It is with a heavy heart that Kimberly Wilsons's A JOURNEY must be cancelled yet again, due to the current resurgence in COVID-19 cases in Stamford.

In accordance with Stamford Mayor David Martin’s prudent decision to re-establish the safety guidelines that were in place for Phase II of Connecticut’s COVID 19 Reopening Plans, the Avon Theatre Film Center and the Greenwich Theatre Company have decided to cancel our November presentation of A JOURNEY.  We would love to have the opportunity to present Kimberly Wilson’s wonderful live performance sometime in the future, but the current situation demands that we focus first on the  health and safety of our patrons.  It is our plan to be in touch with ticket holders individually to make arrangements for refunds.

*The Avon Theatre remains open, in full compliance with state and local guidelines and with a stringent set of safety protocols.*

A Journey runs approximately 75 minutes, with no intermission.

A Journey is an intimate and powerful exploration of history and the Black Woman's experience. Kimberly Wilson tells of the struggles and influence of Black Womanhood with courage, dignity, faith, hope, and strength in perfect lockstep with the history of the United States.

Follow eight women in eight pivotal generations as she presents their stories through song, movement and monologue.

Joyful celebration and painful reflection tell a story of persistence and courage, and how Black Womanhood, not always intricately woven into the fabric of American history, is an important thread that weaves the tapestry together.

After each performance, the audience is invited to stay for a brief talk-back, extending the impact of this theatrical experience.
